Description
Size: up to 30 cm long

Color: Green

Substratum: Rocky, Pebbles or any floating structures in the sea

Occurrence: Upper mid littoral zone

Season: November- April

Thallus strap-shaped to filiform, the two layers compressed, in broad parts the two layers adnate. Cells in surface view rectangular, arranged in linear series; cells in transverse section 10-15 μm long, 8-15 μm broad; filaments branched.

Asexual reproduction may be by fission (splitting), fragmentation or by zoospores (motile spores). Sexual reproduction may be isogamous (gametes both motile and same size); anisogamous (both motile and different sizes-female bigger) or oogamous (female non-motile and egglike; male motile).
