Description
Color: Yellow-purple red

Thallus form and type: Caicified and articulated

Thalli erect, 2-6 cm tall. Regularly dichotomously branched, sometimes trichotomously or with adventitious branches. Segments cylindrical or slightly compressed, several times longer than broad, prominently swollen at the ends, sometimes not. Thallus entangled, fragile, calcareous, dense clumps or mats; yellow-green to white-pink. Branches thin, brittle, jointed, cylindrical, often swollen at segment ends; holdfast crust-like, inconspicuous.

In longitudinal section, medulla of the segments composed of 4-8 transverse rows of cells, 50-90 µm long, alternating with 1-2 rows of short ones 16-30 µm long. Sporangial conceptacles lateral, conspicuously prominent, sometimes not, 300-340 µm inside diameter, sporangia tetrasporic.
