Plants 5-8 cm tall, 8-9 times dichotomous, complanate, the axils broad and a little flattened but not constricted. Thallus flattened or complanate, utricles 12-22 µm broad, squarish or hexagonal in surface view. Segments 1.5-6.0 mm diameter. Medullary strand rather obscure, of 6-8 filaments; subsurface layer of round or pyriform cells. Epidermis of cells rectangular in section, 22 µ wide, 34-35 µ tall, these occasionally separated by slender colored cells. Cystocarps about 165 µ long, 200 µ diameter. Pericarps thin, of 2-3 pseudoparenchymatous layer.
