Description
Color: Dark green

Thallus form and type: Ramiform and creeping

Substratum: Intertidal rocks, calcareous rocks

Occurrence: Lower mid littoral zone, tide pools

Season: November-April

Frond erect or creeping, bearing small, spherical, bead-like branchlets. Plants with assimilators 4-8 cm long, simple or branched, 5-7 mm diameter with a central axis, ramuli clavate, cylindrical with flat top, 1-2 mm diameter at base, 2-3 mm at top, 2-4 mm long. Rhizome creeping, stoloniferous, naked, branched, 2 mm diameter, without assimilators upto 4 cm from tip, tip pointed or acute. Plants differentiated into rhizoids, horizontal stems and erect foliar elements; colourless basal portion creeps over the sea bottom and gives rise to green shoots that divide profusely around the axis; plastic- looking grapelike nodes borne on branches; holdfast penetrates sandy bottom forming a compact cushion.
