LM image, girdle view of a colony of Bellerochea malleus cells

Description
Size: Diameter 40-80 ┬Ám

The cells are usually triangular in valve view, although a rectangular outline has also been observed. In girdle view cells are roughly rectangular. The apices of the cells are raised and these raised apices form a point of attachment between adjacent valves. Adjacent to each of the raised apices is a small depression, forming a drop shaped aperture between cells when seen in girdle view (arrow). A single labiate process with a tubular extension is present.
