Color: Greyish green

Thalli lightly calcified, decumbent below, erect and the axis simple or sparingly branched above, 8-16 cm in length. Axis producing nearly contiguous tufts by the repeated dichotomous division of lateral branchlets in whorls on the axis, the forkings wide-angled, the filaments loosely entangled. In old and fully developed plants the tufts near the base with monostromatic flabellate branchlets. Rhizoids developed on the lower side of the filaments constricted at their base and torulose. Glomerules up to 16 or more on each axial filament bearing them at intervals of 4-6 or 10 mm; 1 cm high, 1 cm broad.
