A large type of Radiolaria. Spicule 20 in number, same in shape. Mostly equal in length, or one to two, at most four, spicules are longer. Spicule slender, cylindrical, ends similar to needle ends. With it pentagonal or hexagonal cone-shaped base the spicule, unites to form a stellate body. Soft part of the body commonly polygonal, colorless. Central capsule membrane thin. Two types of pseudopodia present. Gelatinous membrane with elastic fibrous filaments, inside the membrane each spicule with numerous (24-40) linear myofrisks.
