Description
No stridulating ridge on the inner surface of the palm of major cheliped. External orbital angle not prominent, its dip directed rather inwards.
Carapace deep, quadrilateral, strongly convex fore and aft, its length about seven-eighths its greatest breadth, which is some little distance behind the orbits. Orbits deep; their upper border sinuous. There is usually a notch near the middle of their lower border, and always a deep gap at the outer angle. The marginal row of granules on the outer surface of the ischium of the external maxillipeds are indistinct or absent. Though the chelipeds and legs are rough and the roughness is in places of squamiform, there is no serration of their edges, except in the case of the lower borders of the arms, the inner edges of the wrists, and the lower border of the hands. The propodites and dactyli of the legs are rather short and stout, the datyli being fluted and more or less hairy; the edges of the propodites of the first 2 pairs of legs are hairy. The third pair of legs, which are slightly longer than the first 2 pairs, are less than twice the length of the carapace.
